Job Description

The position is designed to introduce you to the insurance profession, while providing you the opportunity to advance into a claim representative job. The position provides critical support to our claim center and front-line assistance to our customers and claim professional staff. Responsibilities within the team include telephone customer service, financial transactions, updating and managing critical business information, reviewing and assigning newly reported insurance claims, and other duties and projects as assigned. Members of the team also participate in developmental activities designed to prepare them for future roles within the organization.

Training and Development
Participants will undergo formal training and development to cover all essential aspects of a claim department and prepare them for their current and future roles. Training includes an overview of the insurance process and Travelers key external customers and internal departments. In addition, participants take part in coursework and on-the-job training in customer service, systems, regulatory issues, Travelers values, and insurance concepts and best practices.

Participants also have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in these areas and will be considered for future opportunities within the organization. In addition, each participant will be assigned a mentor within the department and participate in job shadowing opportunities to perform specific claim handling responsibilities.

Primary Duties
Serving as a customer service representative for the Claim department by promptly and professionally addressing customer questions and concerns
Assessing reasonableness of data as well as identifying discrepancies, including reconciliations.
Performing underlying controls and effectively communicating findings.
Setting up new claims, requesting police reports and medical records, reviewing medical bills for proper billing and coding, and entering data, including claim diaries and notes.
Preparing, generating and reviewing monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports, documents and presentations using the most effective technology
Processing and issuing invoice, outside expense, attorney expense and centralized expense payments.
Performing quality contacts to assist as a result of catastrophic claim events
Requirements

Four-year college degree preferred
3.0 overall GPA preferred
Energetic team player with excellent telephone, customer service and communication skills
Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize daily assignments
Must be highly organized with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail is a must
Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new applications in a department with the most advanced and continually improving computer platforms
Claim handling or customer service experience a plus but not required.
The desire to become a claim handler with the best in the business is essential
