Job Description
The Manager of Learning & Development is responsible for managing a team of client facing Learning Consultants who design, develop, and evaluate interactive learning solutions that drive business performance. The Manager may also support learning consultants that design, develop, and evaluate interactive learning solutions regarding Operational, Human Resources and other storewide programs. The incumbent will partner closely with Business and Senior Leaders to ensure the team supports business goals to increase revenue, profitability, market share and customer satisfaction while reducing inventory shrink and employee turnover. Manages team’s efforts as they conduct training needs assessments and provide a menu of solutions to help the client achieve the desired business performance taking into account associate demographics/learning styles conventional and alternative delivery methods.



MUST have a deep understanding of effective instructional design principles and strategies, and ability to stay current with emerging pedagogical practices, especially those supported by mobile and "web 2.0" technology. Includes a solid understanding of social media environments, including tools such as YouTube, Twitter, flickr, Stumpleupon, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, forums, wikis, and blogs. We NEED a high level of digital literacy/fluency, including the ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new tools quickly.



• Work as both a leader and member of several cross functional teams to ensure that learning is involved in all field initiatives and provides an appropriate level of support.
• Promote a culture that clearly emphasizes the strategic significance of continuous learning
• Provide learning leadership for retail store projects and initiatives
• Ensure client satisfaction
• Recommend training solutions that address business challenges and are cost effective by leveraging technology and providing business oriented measurement of outcomes
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training curriculum by creating and implementing measures to track outcomes and ensure alignment to business objectives
• Plan and manage learning projects using internal and/or vendor resources including accountability for budget, product and resources
• Analyze outside vendor curriculums/course offerings to assess if solutions should be offered as an alternative to the Business Unit
• Performs supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to: making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting, and terminating; conducting performance appraisals; and coaching and developing associates
• Develops and leverages metrics to measure skill acquisition and impact introduced through learning
• Plans, coordinates, and executes major vendor-led training road shows for the applicable Business Units
• Consults with Business Leaders and Operations partners to identify current and future training needs, and develops a strategy to build those skills
• Heightens skill level for associates selling all product lines, as well as non-selling associates and managers through the creation and deployment of eLearning, monthly training magazines, job aids, nationally facilitated events, and other relevant training mediums and programs as applicable
• Translates Sears Holdings Corporations Retail Services people strategy into action through the timely design, development, management, and execution of national training projects and initiatives
• Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates

() MUST BE a hands on learning & Development leader who expertly drives team, ensures focus and productivity beyond organization’s expectations. Strong team, leadership, and organizational skills are required.
() We expect strong Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. You will regularly design MS PowerPoint presentations to a "C" level audience.
