Job Description Summary:
Provides support, and depending upon experience level, may lead the analysis, maintenance, and implementation of Personal Insurance products at a state level to achieve financial objectives. With assistance and direction from others, support includes taking action for state specific product, underwriting, risk management, systems, agency management and other distribution channel changes and initiatives. May make recommendations and develop state non rate state strategies. An understanding of the state market and competitive environments is required to affect and manage these efforts.

Position reports to Managing Director/2VP of State Product Services Team and requires location to be in Hartford. This position is being offered as a Product Analyst or Senior Product Analyst level, depending upon experience. Periodic travel is expected to Personal Insurance Business Centers and field locations as needs arise.


Job Components:
¿Assists with implementation of state product changes (rates, rules, underwriting, policy contract and non-policy forms).
¿Assists with development and implementation of state underwriting strategies in response to underwriting results and competitor actions.
¿Performs basic to advanced analysis for state non rate product changes, quoting & issuance system changes, agency management actions, and other distribution channel actions. Analysis includes but is not limited to underwriting results and actions, competitor environments, claim trends/large loss analysis, and local market mix of business.
¿Provides business requirements for system implementation of state product changes and provide input to system test criteria and validates test results.
¿Develops communication and training materials to support product changes and product positioning.
¿Develops effective relationships across multiple business units/partners.
¿Shares key information with business partners to support the achievement of financial objectives
¿Provides support and consultation to other Personal Insurance departments (Business Centers, Sales & Marketing, Claim, etc) for state specific topics.
¿Utilizes systems and data marts to analyze, research and troubleshoot state issues and questions.
¿Adheres to State and National product processes (filings, standing orders, etc), procedures and best practices. Meets or exceeds quality, timeliness and service level agreements.
¿Supports completion of timely and accurate responses to DOI filing inquiries. Utilize Compliance Team to ensure timely and accurate completion of DOI inquiries, surveys, data calls, etc.
¿Ensures state products (rules, rates, forms, underwriting) and business practices (i.e. claim handling, policy processing) are in compliance with laws and regulations.
¿Utilizes other Personal Insurance departments to (1) conduct competitor coverage/contract analysis and (2) monitor and research state and/or federal regulations that may impact products and/or business practices.
¿Participates as a project team member on national or state product initiatives or projects.

Qualifications:
¿4 year college degree or equivalent work experience.
¿Minimum 1- 2+ years personal insurance industry experience
¿Basic to solid understanding of insurance financials, products, underwriting, regulatory environments and risk management activities.
¿Experienced using Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
¿Ability to collect data from data marts or willingness & ability to develop these skills (Desirable: basic knowledge of Impromptu or similar query tools.
¿Desirable: completion of risk management or insurance course work, matriculation in CPCU, IIA or other recognized insurance designations (examples CPCU, ARM, CIC).
