JOB SUMMARY:
Leads state product initiatives and projects. Include the design, development, analysis and maintenance of state products to achieve financial objectives. Make recommendations and develops state non rate product strategies. Has strong awareness of state team capabilities and able to actively represent team from a state product and leadership perspective.

State product initiatives include rate/rule/underwriting/form changes, risk management initiatives, systems changes, agency management and other distribution channel actions, with understanding of local market and product competitive environment.

Position reports to Managing Director/2VP of State Product Services Team and requires location to be in Hartford. This position is being offered as a Senior Product Analyst or Product Director level, depending upon experience. Periodic travel is expected to Business Centers and field locations as needs arise.

JOB COMPONENTS/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads and implements state product changes (rates, rules, underwriting, policy and non-policy forms).

Performs advanced to complex analysis for the design of state non rate product changes, quoting & issuance system changes, agency management actions, other distribution channel actions (e.g. Direct, Affinity) and risk management actions. Analysis includes but is not limited to competitor environment, claim trends/large loss analysis, agency mix of business and local market mix of business.

Develops state non rate product strategies and prepares formal recommendations on non rate product changes, system changes, and agency management actions.

Provides business requirements for system implementation of state product changes and provide input to system test criteria and validates test results.

Develops communication and training materials as required to support state product changes, non rate product changes and product positioning.

Develops effective relationships across multiple business units/partners and shares key information with business partners to support the achievement of financial objectives

Provides Personal Insurance business units (Business Centers, Sales & Marketing, Claim, etc) support and consultation for state specific issues.

Utilizes Personal Insurance systems and data marts to analyze, to research and to troubleshoot state issues and questions.

Adheres to State and National product processes (filings, standing orders, etc), procedures and best practices. Meets or exceed quality (MMR, etc), timeliness and service level agreements. Recommends improvements to existing processes and best practices

Ensures state products (rules, rates, forms, underwriting) and business practices (i.e. claim handling, policy processing) are in compliance with state laws and regulations.
Utilizes Coverage, Competitor and Forms Analysis Team for policy and non-policy form changes, competitor form/coverage analysis, and rule changes.

Utilizes Compliance Team for monitoring and research of current, proposed and new state regulations that may impact state products and/or business practices.

Supports completion of timely and accurate responses to DOI filing inquiries. Utilize Compliance Team to ensure timely and accurate completion of DOI inquiries, surveys, data calls, etc.

Conducts underwriting risk analysis.

Communicates decisions to stakeholders.

Leads and/or participates on state and national product initiatives

JOB COMPETENCIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4-year College degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 4+ years personal insurance industry experience, with strong understanding of products, underwriting, coverage, rules, policy and non-policy forms, regulatory environment, risk management, pricing/filing processes, and insurance financials.
- Experienced using Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
- Strong to advanced knowledge of Impromptu or similar query tool. Ability to collect data from data marts or willingness & ability to develop these skills
-Desirable: CPCU, IIA or other recognized insurance designations (examples: CPCU, ARM, CIC)
