Travelers Private & Non Profit Management Liability team is looking for a career minded individual interested in joining our underwriting team.

Underwriting requires a blend of analytical, sales, interpersonal and marketing skills. At Travelers, our underwriters are responsible for developing new opportunities, gathering and analyzing pertinent underwriting and financial and operational information in order to evaluate the business and institutional risk. However, our underwriters are more than just analysts as they must also possess strong interpersonal skills, allowing them to build internal and external relationships that help Travelers continue to grow a profitable portfolio of business.


Learns the Executive Liability business and how to underwrite, assess risk, financial analysis and decision making.

Assist in underwriting and pricing accounts in accordance with business strategies. Formulate and communicate recommendations based on learned underwriting skill.
Learn how to perform financial analysis (to assess financial component of risk) consistent with the Private and Non Profit business unit.

Learn and develop product knowledge of the different types of Executive Liability products that are written within the Private & Non Profit business unit.
Gain the experience to recognize and utilize documentation procedures and standards.
Gain an understanding of Travelers Insurance within Bond & Financial Products and across the entire organization.

Learns how to develop product agency/client relationships in support of business objectives through a disciplined sales management approach and training in support of our business unit objectives.
Develop relationships with clients to establish the foundation to interact and effectively deal with account issues as appropriate.
Attend Regional business unit meetings.
Develop strong customer service skills including consistency, quick response and knowledge of products.

Strong communication (written and verbal), influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop/maintain productive internal and external relationships.
Effectively communicates and collaborates with colleagues on Team, Region, and Home Office.
Ability to communicate in difficult decisions.
