Job Description
Work with the Sporting Goods Merchant, Inventory, and Marketing teams to oversee proper financial controls and manage the weekly/monthly forecasting and reporting process and annual planning process. Perform ad hoc analyses and provide tools and recommendations to deliver financial solutions for the Business Unit.
Qualifications:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for overall accuracy of planning and forecasting.
2. Reviews and diagnoses variances to plan and forecast.
3. Manages annual strategic planning process in conjunction with corporate timelines.
4. Coordinates regular business reviews with buying teams and senior management.
5. Validates strategies and tactics are in place to achieve plans and forecasts.
6. Prepares and presents the analysis required for the Markdown approval process.
7. Ensures corporate controls are in place within each business unit.
8. Responsible for identifying underperforming areas and initiating projects to improve performance.
9. Provides financial analysis for projects, contract reviews, and vendor negotiations.
10. Does regular ad hoc analysis as requested by senior management.
11. Participates and supports all business and line reviews.
12. Responsible for providing ongoing training within the merchandising organization to improve financial acumen.
13. Act as a liaison between other Finance departments and the Sporting Goods business unit

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Economics and/or MBA.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis or Strategic Business Decision Making.
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial calculations. Experience with retail accounting preferred.
4. Strong decision making and problem solving skills required based upon financial and statistical results.
5. Ability to read, interpret and communicate detailed quantitative data to perform the duties previously listed.
6. Experience with I-Plan, SPRS, Merchant Workbench and Alex is a plus.
7. Experience with Hyperion and or Essbase, plus Advanced use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
