SUMMARY:

This position can be located in any of the following offices: Jericho Long Island; NYC,NY; Blue Bell, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; or Edison, NJ

This position is responsible for operational effectiveness by meeting or exceeding performance goals and providing exceptional underwriting support and quality service to insureds, business customers and team members. Additional responsibilities include recruitment and management of talent, including aggressive performance management; building and maintaining business partner relationships; exceptional leadership in the successful execution of leadership integration and which inspires change; the management of business assignments; and support of projects and utilization of technology solutions to enhance performance. Assures all related activities are delivered in a manner consistent with customer service and expense management focus.

The position is accountable to direct/manage the account services activities for multiple remote sites (4 - 7 locations) with a regional revenue of over $115 million. Currently this position is responsible for management of 14 staff members.

As a member of the Operations leadership team, the Operations Manager participates in establishing strategic initiatives and tactical business practices; develops and maintains effective relationships with colleagues across Enterprise Business Insurance Operations to achieve organizational goals and create better outcomes for our customers and applies cross-disciplinary knowledge and expertise to solve business problems.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets or exceeds timeliness, production and quality performance goals
Monitors compliance to all performance standards and develops action plans to improve or refine results
Consistently identifies operational efficiency opportunities and pursues solutions, to include leveraging new technology

Understands the strategic direction of the business
Effectively works to align appropriate support to ensure success and leverages best practices and solutions across Commercial Accounts

Collaborates with Marketing and other business segments to strategically partner with them to provide exceptional underwriting support as well as to build partnerships that drive value-added benefit to the enterprise and enhances opportunities to support business objectives

Recruits top talent and utilizes all development tools and programs to diminish learning curves and promote immediate productivity

Maintains talented account management staff through:
setting clear direction and goals
conducting meaningful performance evaluations
aggressive performance management practices
continuous coaching and mentoring including maintenance of Coaching Plans
regular development discussions including maintenance of Individual Development
Plans
fair and equitable administration of compensation, including appropriate use of reward
and recognition programs
Develops site strategies, formal succession plans and contingency strategies for hiring,
training and support of Travelers Diversity Initiative

Initiates and takes lead role in both planned and unplanned projects ensuring timely, cost effective, and quality execution of projects and initiatives.
Volunteers knowledge and skills to support a project of key interest to the enterprise or region

WORK EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years work experience in a Corporate environment is required
Property Casualty Insurance experience/knowledge is strongly preferred.
A minimum of two years experience managing a professional staff is required

OTHER:
Proficiency in the use of personal computers and business software applications (e.g., Excel, Word and Outlook) and demonstrated ability to keyboard accurately and efficiently
Willing and able to travel (limited overnight travel) to agencies, meetings in other locations, etc.

EDUCATION:
Four year college degree and/or equivalent work experience
Insurance certifications (preferred)
