Job Description

Summary: Under general supervision, troubleshoots the manufacturing and packaging processes, provides support to the site in the areas of project coordination, follow-through, problem solving, efficiency studies and the identification of process improvement opportunities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks. o Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws. o Troubleshoots equipment and processes in the manufacturing and packaging areas. o Interfaces with quality assurance and research and development on process requirements for new and current products; develops plans for implementation of new product line and new equipment. o Works in conjunction with Maintenance Department to identify recurrent problems; researches new equipment and process improvements; and recommends and implements equipment upgrades and the purchase of new equipment that better meets regulatory requirements. o Researches and makes recommendations to Manager regarding on-site transfer projects and product scale-up activities. o Researches and recommends improvements in manufacturing and control systems. o May design and maintain monitoring and reporting systems for yields, capacity downtime, cycletime, efficiencies, labor utilization and plan compliance. o May assist area management in performing investigations and preparing capital expenditure requests in training all employees in new equipment, systems and processes. o Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations. o Performs related duties as assigned.Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills : Knowledge of : Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment. OSHA, FDA, EPA, AQMD and other applicable regulatory and safety compliance guidelines. Dry and wet blend granulation's, including fluid bed granulates, high shear granulators, blenders, mills, multiple table presses, and tablet coaters. Packaging equipment systems, such as vibratory fillers, slat fillers, cappers and labelers. Manufacturing process engineering principles and practices. Engineering and business computer hardware and software. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Company safety rules and regulations, worker's compensation and related practices. Skills in: Performing necessary engineering projects and assignments in a cost effective and timely manner. Ensuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations. Analyzing and troubleshooting problems, identifying solutions, and recommending and implementing methods, procedures, systems and/or techniques for resolution. Functioning as an individual contributor, with little or no supervision. Ensuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations. Operating a personal computer and standard office applications including word processing. Reading, writing and speaking English. Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Education

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions : Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching, climbing ladders and walking, vision to monitor, occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, toxic gases, electrical hazards, and dangerous tools and equipment. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university, prefer BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, and nine (9) - thirteen (13) years of process engineering experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
