Job Description
The Sr Technical Specialist, Teradata DBA will be responsible for driving database design, policy and procedure and system monitoring and oncall responsibilities. This person will also have expertise in workload management on the Teradata System.

• Lead the database design sessions, providing conceptual, logical and physical database designs.
• Review and/or recommend database design(s) and provide feedback and direction.
• Use data modeling knowledge to provide designs that will meet performance and scalability requirements.
• Ability to review and analyze existing Teradata SQL and load processes, identifying improvement opportunities, indexes, partitioning strategies, etc., and make recommendations to improve the processes, schema, SQL, load scripts and processes, etc. Then work with the process owners to implement the changes and document the improvements.
• Maintain and enhance workload management rulesets for Teradata production systems
• Interfaces with personnel internal and external to department to support and implement existing production systems or business solutions.
• Conducts complex technical or business analyses such as resolving complex system problems or business system procedures in order to maintain efficient operations
• Analyzes, determines and controls the resources used in systems programming to ensure efficient resource usage while maintaining system performance level.
• Ability to conduct discovery, root cause analysis and make recommendations for the remediation of system related issues.
• Coordinates large system tests, conduct walkthroughs or develop and teach technical classes in order to maintain efficient operations.
• Provides feedback and technical guidance to application teams on data issues of critical importance to achieving business objectives.
• Must have skills and be able to manage multiple projects working in a fast – paced, high-pressure environment
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, specialized computer systems training, or equivalent.
Minimum of ten years programming, procedure development, applications, systems or computer operations experience or equivalent
Strong oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in extreme scale data management, analytics on structured and unstructured data stores
Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degree of technical experience
Strong analytical ability
Strong experience in 3GL/4GL or high programming languages, relational databases and operating systems
Proven capabilities in Database Administration and supporting large scale production environemnts in a 24x7 environment.
