Job Description
JOB SUMMARY Supports the processes and maintenance required to manufacture, process, package and ship salt. Develop and implement solutions to production problems as well as the design and installation of capital and expense project improvements. Support production from boiler, steam, pump and pressure vessels systems to conveyors, assembly lines, machine controls, robotics and programmable controllers. Support equipment installations; make minor machine modifications, while constantly striving to maintain a goal of zero equipment breakdowns. Develop safety improvements and lead safety initiatives. MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities: • Responsible for following all Safety, Environmental and Quality Control policies and procedures. • Responsible for EHS, MOC, GMP, and Q.C. Compliance • Strictly observes GMP requirements. Is familiar with the plants’ HACCP program and how it applies to your job. Maintains records as required. • Responsible for meeting business targets in area of responsibility • Responsible for providing Supervision, Leadership and coaching to employees in area of responsibility • Ensures adherence to standard work processes (MEWP) • Responsible for troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems • Makes recommendations to maintenance for preventative maintenance activities • Responsible for remaining current in all required company and job related training. • Responsible for delivering quality products and services to all internal and external customers. • Acts as a technical resource for department heads and production supervisors. • Responsible for performing other duties as assigned. • Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors. • Develops expense and capital projects by generating; scope of work, alternatives, estimates, project papers, specifications, budgets. • Executes expense and capital projects by; selecting contractors, writing request for quotes, awarding bids, overseeing contractors and internal maintenance personnel, inspecting/approving work, and closing projects. • Lead safety improvement efforts. Accountabilities • Provide Leadership in Support of the Safety Journey and the Company’s Goal of Achieving an Injury-Free Workplace • Accountable for EHS, MOC, GMP, and Q.C. Compliance • Accountable for meeting business targets in area of responsibility • Accountable for providing Supervision, Leadership and coaching to employees in area of responsibility • Accountable for providing solutions through designated channels. • Accountable for assisting maintenance in the diagnosis and repair of production equipment. • Accountable for improving equipment uptime through improvements to processes and machines QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education and Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering • Supervisory experience a plus. • Experience with SAP preferred • Excellent oral and written skills • Must have 2-5 years of experience Certifications/Affiliations Required SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES • Possesses knowledge of technical information on the unit/area. • Ability to read and understand drawings and electrical schematics. • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for modifications of engineering drawings. KEY INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS • Requires daily contact with employees in other departments, specifically (but not limited to) production departmental managers and equipment operators. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Normal working schedule of 40 hours per week and overtime may be required. • Responds to urgent or emergency situations during work and outside of normal working hours, as needed. • Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. May perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders/stairs and working on elevated platforms. Uses hand tools and operates fixed and mobile plant equipment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity. Wears personal protective equipment, as required and uses full range of motion • Uses tools necessary to diagnose and troubleshoot in order to meet project needs as necessary. • Performs duties in confined space entries. • Works in general office and manufacturing plant environment.
